The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars travel south to take on Coventry Blaze tonight and are aiming to take their first points of the weekend.

The Stars arrive in the West Midlands following last night’s 6-2 home defeat to Guildford Flames, where Drydn Dow and Kameron Kielly were the only Dundonian’s able to find the back of the net.

Dundee had taken the lead inside 15 minutes but would be pegged back just 17 seconds later before Guildford then took the lead just 90 seconds after equalising.

In the second period, Paul Dixon’s side extended their lead to 3-1 as they scored on a man advantage, which was the first time the Stars had conceded a powerplay goal since January 3.

The third period would see the English outfit add three more goals as Richard Sabol was beaten in the 44th, 48th and 52nd minute but in the 53rd minute Kameron Kielly’s powerplay strike for Dundee would make it 6-2.

Meanwhile, Coventry pulled off a comeback in Glasgow as they were 3-0 down to the Clan before going on to win after a shootout, with Brandon Alderson, Chase Gresock, Kim Tallberg and Terrance Amorosa all on the scoresheet for the Blaze.

Kevin Moore’s men have a winning record against the Stars this season but have only beaten the Taysiders once in regulation as they have won the last three clashes; 4-3 (shootout), 7-1 and 3-2 (overtime).

Dundee are yet to win in the SkyDome Arena this season but are looking to end that on their final trip to Coventry tonight as they aim to secure two more vital league points and hold their spot inside the top eight.

Discussing tonight’s visit to Coventry, Stars Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre said: “We need to play a simple road game in there, they have a big ice surface and they are pretty good at home.

“They play a tight checking game down there and the last time we were there, we took it to overtime and it is a tough building to go into but we just need to focus on our own game and play a smart road game.”

Face-off for tonight’s road game against Coventry is at 5:30pm.
