The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars welcome Guildford Flames to Tayside tonight as they aim to keep up their chase for a higher league position and look to return to winning ways.

The Stars currently sit seven points behind the Surrey club, who occupy sixth position and Dundee are holding eighth place, with both teams having played 40 of 54 regular season games.

Marc LeFebvre’s side must win if they hope to close in on their opponents but also Coventry Blaze, who are nine points ahead of the Taysiders in fifth and will host the Stars tomorrow evening in the West Midlands.

Dundee come into the game off the back of a three-point weekend as they defeated Manchester Storm 4-3 on the road, before taking one point away from a 4-3 overtime defeat at home against Glasgow Clan.

Keanu Yamamoto, Drydn Dow, Domenic Alberga and Philippe Sanche all found the back of the net in Manchester as Jarrett Fiske backstopped the Stars to a fourth win in five games, before Richard Sabol helped Dundee to overtime against Glasgow with Kyle Pouncy, Craig Moore and Kameron Kielly on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, the Flames snapped a five-game losing skid with a 4-2 victory in Nottingham over the Panthers on Wednesday night, as they were 2-0 down before Matt Alvaro, Daniel Catenacci and Jack Jacome (2) fired them on to victory.

Previously both teams have won once each both home and away across four games, with Dundee requiring overtime and also penalties once to clinch their two victories against Paul Dixon’s side.

Talking about this crucial weekend for his side, Stars Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre said: “We need to continue focusing on ourselves and moving forward one game at a time.

“We can only can control what we can control, so we need to make sure we put in the performance required and we have had a pretty even battle with Guildford, for the most part this season.

“One game went to a shootout, another overtime, one was a tight loss and the other we need to forget about but I think we are too evenly matched teams for the most part.

“They have a lot of speed and skill, so we need to make sure we neutralise that tonight.”

Face-off for tonight’s home game against Guildford is at 7pm.
