The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars’ latest addition hit the ice for the first time in Dundee on Friday and is raring to go for this weekend’s matches, now that his international clearance has come through.
Parker joins the Stars from ECHL side, Wichita Thunder and re-connects with former teammate, Fabrizio Ricci, who now captains Dundee.
The six-foot-nine-inch-tall attacker will bring a much bigger net front presence to the team and will create more problems for opposition goalies and defences, as he uses his big frame to disrupt sight and win the net front battles.
After completing the signing of Parker, Stars General Manager and Head Coach, Jeff Mason delightedly said: “Ian adds a lot of value to the team, he is a natural center which is something we desperately need.
“He is a massive body up top and he wreaks havoc in front of the net, which is how he scored 11 goals last year and they all were all picked up in the hard area, right in front of the net and he will be able to create some space for us.
“I believe he will fit in well, I got great references on him, he is a great person and I am happy to add him to our team, and as we start to get healthier, having another body will allow us to get back to playing the way we did before, when we were a bit more fresh and be a bit more aggressive.”
