After a late arrival to training camp and picking up an injury in the preseason, Sokay made his competitive debut last Sunday as the Stars visited Guildford Flames.
Despite the 6-3 loss, the Canadian played a part in every goal and collected two assists before scoring his first goal for the club.
Now, the 25-year-old can hopefully continue to kick-on with his season and show the Stars fans just what he can do, with his sharp skillset and raw speed, all yet to be showcased in the Elite League and tonight will be his next opportunity, as he and the rest of the Stars are on the road against Belfast Giants.
Speaking about Sokay’s debut and his delight to have him available to play again, Stars Head Coach, Jeff Mason said: “Obviously we have been looking to get him into the line-up for quite a long time now and I feel like he will really add to our team and help give us more scoring.
“We have got to be more balanced offensively than we have been, so it was great to get him out there on Sunday in Guildford and it was great to see him have success.
“I thought as the game went on, he settled in well and I did not know what to expect with it being his first game back and the anticipation was that he would not get into that game.
“So, I am certainly happy to have him back and have him able to jump in after losing those two guys, and I am sure he will be a really good player for us.
“It will take some time to make sure he is fully match fit, but I thought he had a really good game and it was great to see him get on the board.”
Face-off for tonight’s game in Belfast is at 7pm and you can find the link to tonight’s webcasts HERE.
