NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS 3 TRADE-MART DUNDEE STARS 2
The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars went toe-to-toe with Nottingham Panthers on Saturday night but were edged out by one-goal in a tough road game, as they slipped to defeat.

Heading into Sunday’s match in Nottingham, the Stars lost Zach Tsekos from their line-up and that brought their injury list up to six imports and new signing Alex Robert would make his second appearance for the club.
Dundee fell behind in the opening minutes as Sam Herr’s effort was deflected into the back of the Stars net via the skates of defenseman, Craig Moore and that put the Taysiders on the backfoot early.
However, they would settle the game down and soon draw level with a powerplay goal on five minutes as Mitchell Fossier’s penalty for high sticks gave Jonathan McBean the opportunity to equalise and he picked out the top corner of Ryan Bednard’s goal from the left side.
The match was still level after the first period but Dundee would come out and take the lead inside 27 minutes as Stars captain, Drydn Dow would see the puck turned goalwards off his skates as he battled in front of the Panthers goal.
The visitors looked to be in control and close to extending their lead before a series of penalties hampered their attacking efforts and with less than two minutes left in the second session, Herr would stab home his second of the night after reacting first to a loose puck in front Richard Sabol’s net.
With the score still tied after 40 minutes, both teams came out swinging in the third period as they fought for the go-ahead-goal and it looked as if Dundee would regain the lead when Quinn Wichers was thrown out of the match for cross-checking Dundee’s Brendan Harms.
Although, the Stars would fail to score with their man advantage and it soon became a four-on-four situation as Dow was sent to the penalty box for a hooking foul and it was then that Hugo Roy would capitalise on a chance in the 51st minute as he fired past Sabol’s shoulder for what would be the game-winner.
The Stars will remain in seventh place as they drop below the Panthers and now sit three points back from Nottingham but next weekend, Dundee travel to the West Coast for a Scottish Rivalry clash against Glasgow Clan on Saturday night before hosting Sheffield Steelers on Sunday.
