The Stars made one change to their line-up following the last game of 2024 as goaltenders Jarrett Fiske and Richard Sabol swapped places as Sabol was handed the first start of 2025 and he had a job to do in the first 20 minutes with the home side forcing him into some testing saves.
Despite the Slovakian keeper’s heroics at one end, Dundee were unable to convert any of their chances in the first period as Brendan Harms, Philippe Sanche and Jake Elmer all went close but Mac Carruth kept the game scoreless heading to the second.
Although, the Devils would waste no time in finally opening the scoring as they took the lead just 33 seconds after the restart, punishing the Taysiders for a defensive turnover in their own end.
Josh MacDonald would be played in by Evan Mosey and he dispatched the puck past Sabol at his near post but the home team’s lead would be short lived as Zach Tsekos brought the Stars back onto level terms on 23 minutes.
Dundee defenseman, Ben O’Connor had played the puck from the left wing, straight across goal to the right post where Tsekos was waiting to tap home the finish and that sparked Marc LeFebvre’s men on as at the halfway mark, they got themselves in front through Cole MacDonald.
