The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars made it back-to-back four-point weekends as they defeated Fife Flyers 7-2 in Kirkcaldy to keep their hopes of progressing in the Challenge Cup alive.

The Stars had some good chances in the opening minutes but also made a few mistakes that led to some dangerous chances for Fife and they tested netminder Jarrett Fiske early on, although he had an answer for every shot that came his way.

Dundee Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre then called a timeout in the seventh minute to settle his side down and it proved the right call as Jonathan McBean would fire them ahead just 22 seconds later, as he shot his own rebound past Shane Owen to make it 1-0.

The visitors then doubled their lead on 12 minutes as Alex Tonge fired home a second as he buried it off the post but the Flyers would capitalise on an interference penalty against Dundee’s Kris Inglis and in the 16th minute, Phelix Martineau lifted the puck past Fiske to cut the difference to one.
