The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars claimed one point from Saturday night's Scottish Derby against Glasgow Clan as the Braehead club would net the winner inside the last two minutes of overtime and moved one point clear of Dundee.

The Stars would find themselves 1-0 ahead at the end of the first period as they edge in front of what was a very close battle throughout the opening 20 minutes.

The opening goal came on 16 minutes as Kyle Pouncy turned home the rebound from Spencer Naas’ effort, which had been stopped by Glasgow goalie, Landon Bow but he could not recover in time to keep out the second shot.

Dundee had outshot their rivals 19-5 in the first period but in the second, the Clan moved swiftly to tie the game up as Mitchell Heard skated onto a loose rebound and got his side off the mark, just 35 seconds after the game had restarted.

Both teams then went back to fighting for every inch but in the 32nd minute, the Taysiders were given the first powerplay chance of the night as Heard was punished for tripping foul.

Although, Marc LeFebvre’s men were unable to utilise the man advantage and did not cause the Clan too many problems, but shortly after the penalty expired, Dundee defender, Craig Moore stepped up to restore the lead.

Moore had stepped inside from the blue line and fired a long-range effort through traffic, which beat Bow down low at his left side after 34 minutes, but this advantage would be short lived.
