The ten clubs of the EIHL held one of their weekly conference calls on Tuesday. All clubs are continuing to move forward with plans for a 2020/21 season whilst monitoring scientific advice on when our buildings can open again and the league could start.
As fans are aware, the EIHL plans to launch next season with a two-day Magic 5 competition held in Nottingham where all ten clubs will play a meaningful derby game which will count towards total points in the end of season league table.
With last season’s Playoff finals cancelled, many fans have also given their support to the event by transferring their POFW tickets over to this exciting new event.
The EIHL can today confirm that they have set a very provisional date of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October 2020 for the Magic 5 weekend with the regular league and cup season starting the following week.
The end of season Playoff Finals weekend will be pushed back to a provisional date of Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th April 2021.
All of these dates are provisional and subject to government restrictions. The EIHL and its 10 teams will be working towards them, although with the caveat that both an extension or an easing of current government restrictions may bring further changes to this in the coming months.
The EIHL also recognise that some fans have requested refunds from last season’s end of season Playoff weekend and we note that the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham is presently working through the process on our event and many others originally planned in their facility.
We once again thank all of the EIHL fans for their patience during this difficult period.
