Formed in the summer of 2016, “Stars in the Community” aims to make a difference to the lives of young people in Dundee and the surrounding areas.
Throughout the season we team up with local schools, clubs and organisations to broaden the appeal of ice hockey and the Dundee Stars.
Our players and staff, promote healthy, happy and active lifestyles to young people throughout the area, promoting our players as positive male role models in the community.
We also aim to tackle childhood obesity, lack of physical activity, social exclusion and break down barriers for less fortunate and vulnerable children in our community.
Since it’s inception the ” Stars in the Community” projects have worked with over 8000 young people in the local area.
Stars in the Community is a self funded initiative within the club and we are seeking professionals and organisations that will enable us to reach our target of working with over 3000 school aged children, within 30 minutes drive of the Dundee Ice Arena.
Our Community initiatives are delivered by Michael Ward and/or our Community Officer Stephen Swann, assisted by at least two professional players, at each visit.
If you believe your organisation or your skillset can assist us with funding, resources and/or expertise to deliver these projects and meet our goals, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Schools, clubs or organisations interested in getting involved in the programme should contact Michael at [email protected]
