Over in America’s East Coast Hockey League, Anthony Beauregard and Shawn Boutin faced each other for the first time this season in a triple header weekend.
Boutin’s Rapid City Rush claimed the first win on the Friday night with a 3-0 victory in Wichita, before Beauregard’s Thunder came back to win the two weekend matches. Anthony scored the game-winning-goal on Saturday in a 4-1 win, which was also his 100th ECHL appearance and he had one assist on the Sunday as Wichita skated out 5-2 winners.
In the past week, Beauregard picked up another assist on February 3rd in a 4-3 home loss against Allen Americans. However, the Thunder rebounded with a resurgent 4-3 overtime win against the Americans last Friday, with the former Star creating three goals.
Anthony continued his good form in his latest outing scoring one goal and assisting on a further two, as his side downed Allen 5-2 last Saturday and that takes his season total to 16 points (3+13) in 16 games.
Beauregard’s next appearance for Wichita will be this Saturday as the Thunder begin a three-game-road-trip against Utah Grizzlies.
Meanwhile, Boutin and the Rush bounced back with a 4-3 overtime victory in Kansas City against the Mavericks on February 2nd before shutting out the Indy Fuel 2-0 last Friday.
Unfortunately, Shawn was released by Rapid City on Wednesday and during his 18 games with the Rush, he collected 4 points (1+3).
Furthermore, Matt Marquardt featured on two occasions for Jacksonville Icemen in the last fortnight. Firstly, in a 3-2 road win over Greenville Swamp Rabbits on January 30th and the following night as they were beaten 2-0 in the same fixture.
The Icemen’s next match is on Sunday when they visit the South Carolina Stingrays.
Meanwhile in Europe, Drydn Dow and Brett Stovin continued their battle for Slovakian League2 success with HK Spisska Nova Ves.
The pair of Canadians were victorious on January 29th away from home, as they defeated HC Topolcany 4-2, with Dow assisting one goal. However, Stovin has not featured since that match.
Meanwhile, Dow went on to record another assist in a 2-1 home win over HK Gladiators Trnava on February 3rd and featured in a 4-3 shootout loss away to HK iClinic Skalica, last Friday.
Although, Drydn and his teammates rebounded with a 2-1 success over HC 19 Humenne, at home last Monday but fell to a 5-1 defeat against VLCI Zilina on Wednesday night, with the defenseman assisting on their only goal of the night.
Therefore, Stovin’s total for the season remains at one point in nine appearances and Dow now has six points from 13 games. HK Spisska Nova Ves will come up against HK AUTORACZ Levice next on Friday.
In Romania, Justin Maylan’s journey with SC Csikszereda continued and the team had managed to build a seven-match winning streak in the last two weeks, with Maylan contributing heavily.
Following a 6-4 loss to Opten Vasas HC on January 28th, in which Justin scored three points (1+2), the team bounced back the next night, with a 5-2 defeat of MAC HKB Ujbuda and the former Star racked up four assists.
Single assists in 3-2 and 3-1 home victories over DEAC and Titans then followed for the Canadian, before he set up two more goals in a 7-3 success against Titans on February 4th.
However, he recorded no points on Saturday in his side’s 4-2 win against UTE and did not feature in the same fixture the following night, but did return last Wednesday to assist one goal in a 7-3 defeat against Corona Brasov Wolves, the team they had beat 4-3 in overtime the previous night.
Maylan’s points total so far this season now stands at three goals and 19 assists in 22 matches and his next outing will be another clash against the Wolves on Saturday.
Whereas, Latvian winger, Egils Kalns has been out of action for two weeks as his side, Liepaja, have had no fixtures but have their next match this Friday against HS Riga.
