In the club’s 18th season, they finished tenth in the Elite League with 58 points from 60 fixtures and that meant they missed out on the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time in the team’s history.
In the shortened league of 11 teams, after Edinburgh Capitals folded, the Stars won 38 per cent of their Elite League matches that season but they were eight points behind their biggest rivals, Fife Flyers, who finished in sixth place.
Dundee were also only nine points behind their other Scottish rivals, Glasgow Clan, who came fourth but they did have a 24 points gap to the basement club, Milton Keynes Lightning.
Also, there was 34 points between the Stars and the league winning Belfast Giants side and Dundee also had a negative goal difference of -46 in that campaign after scoring 185 goals and conceding 231 times across the Elite League and Challenge Cup.
However, against their Scottish rivals that season, Dundee won exactly half of their derbies but were outscored 50-45 overall.
Therefore against Fife, the Stars won six times and lost twice, scoring 25 times into the Flyers net and allowing only 18 goals into their own.
However, against Glasgow, they lost six times and won only twice and were outscored 32-20.
Also, the Stars’ biggest win that season came against Sheffield Steelers, as they defeated the English side 6-1 at home in January but the highest scoring match they were involved in all season was against Belfast, as they won 6-4 on home ice in December.
Although, Dundee’s only shutout of the season came against their local rivals, as they blanked Fife 3-0 at the Dundee Ice Arena in November.
In the 2018-2019 season, American forward, Charles Corcoran led the team in points and assists in the Elite League with 52 points (16 goals + 36 assists) from 60 league matches.
Meanwhile, American winger, Brian Hart and Canadian winger, Matt Marquardt led the team in league goals with 23 strikes each in 60 and 59 appearances respectively.
However, Canadian blueliner, Drydn Dow was the most penalised Star during league matches, after racking up 50 penalty minutes in 58 games.
Also, in the Challenge Cup, Canadian forward, François Bouchard led the team with the most points and assists, after he collected nine points (4+5) in eight matches.
Once again, Marquardt led the team in goals, as he netted six times in his eight cup appearances and defender Petr Chaloupka was the most punished player, after spending 16 minutes in the sin bin across eight matches.
