In the club’s 13th season, they finished third in the Elite League with 60 points from 52 fixtures and the Stars were the highest seeded Scottish side, heading into the playoffs.
In the 10 team league, the Stars won 54 per cent of their Elite League matches that season and recorded their highest finish to date in the Elite League.
Although, they were only four points ahead of their closest Scottish rivals, as Braehead Clan finished in fifth place with 56 points but the Stars biggest rivals, Fife Flyers only just snuck into the playoffs in seventh place, with 53 points.
Also, Dundee had a negative goal difference of -2 in that campaign after scoring 182 goals and conceding 184 v times across the Elite League, playoffs and Challenge Cup.
In their third entry to the EIHL postseason, the Stars again fell at the first hurdle as they were eliminated by Fife after losing 4-1 then 4-3.
However, against their Scottish rivals that season, Dundee won seven matches against Braehead and Edinburgh and only lost three times to both clubs.
The Stars also outscored the Caps 36-25 but just lost out to the Clan in the same category, with the Glaswegian side winning 29-28.
Also, against their arch enemies from Kirkcaldy, the Flyers won seven on 12 matches between the Tayside teams and outscored Dundee 35-34 across the entire season.
Although, Hutchins’ men recorded their biggest win of the season against Hull Stingrays in March with an 8-2 victory on home ice and their largest shutout win was against Cardiff Devils, as Dundee blanked the Welsh side 7-0 at the DIA.
In the 2013-2014 season, American forward, Nico Sacchetti led the team in goals and points in the Elite League with 29 strikes and 63 points from 43 league matches.
The Stars top playmaker in the league that season was Bill Bagron, who assisted on 36 goals in 49 appearances.
Meanwhile, player-coach, Jeff Hutchins again spent the most time in the penalty box during league fixtures, after collecting 138 penalty minutes in 49 games.
Whereas, in the Challenge Cup, Sacchetti had the most goals, assists and points, as he accumulated nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in 10 cup ties.
Although, the most penalised player in Challenge Cup matches that season was Hutchins again, who picked up 38 penalty minutes in nine matches.
Also, Russian forward, Nikita Kashirsky had the most points in the playoffs with three in two games.
The Stars were the Gardiner Conference Champions that season and that is the club’s first and only honour during the Elite League era so far.
