As we continue our ‘Look Back’ series, today’s article will highlight one Star Player from the 2010-2011 season and the chosen player is – Peter Cartwright.

By Kris Smith

The forward from Anchorage, Alaska joined the Stars in 2010 from Newcastle North Stars in the Australian Ice Hockey League.

Cartwright had spent the regular season in the Netherlands with Pecoma Grizzlies Groningen, before playing the summer season in Australia.

Before signing in Holland, Peter had spent all of his career in North America, playing in leagues such as the United States Hockey League, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Central Hockey League.

The centerman was only in Tayside for one season but certainly made an impression on the Stars fanbase with offensive capabilities.

In the 2010-2011 season, Cartwright iced in 53 Elite League matches, made two playoff appearances and featured in eight Challenge Cup fixtures.

From his 63 games, the American amassed 59 points (28 goals and 31 assists) and spent 60 minutes in the penalty box.

Once the season was over, Peter returned to the AIHL for a second year and iced with the North Stars again but after taking the following season off, he played one final professional match.

Cartwright’s final appearance was with East Coach Hockey League outfit and his hometown team, Alaska Aces.

Next-up in our ‘Look Back’ series we will be bringing you a special Stats of the Stars for the 2010-2011 season and it will be available here at 12pm tomorrow.
