The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars had a difficult night down south as they were beaten 4-1 by Coventry Blaze on their first trip of the season to the Skydome Arena.

The home team would get off to the better start as Alessio Luciani opened the scoring inside nine minutes before Dundee would respond through defenceman, Cole MacDonald, as he tied the game on 12 minutes with a shot into the top right corner of Mat Robson’s net.

The home team would then score twice in the opening four minutes of the second period to take 3-1 lead as Luciani and Nick Seitz fired past Richard Sabol, with the third strike coming on the powerplay as Dundee were punished for having too-many men on the ice.

Chase Gresock and Zach Heintz then added Coventry’s fourth and fifth goals in the 31st and 39th minute respectively, leaving Dundee four goals behind heading to the third period.

Kim Tallberg and Terrance Amorosa would be the only scorers in the final frame as they moved the Blaze 7-1 ahead inside 56 minutes and 58 minutes, with Tallberg’s effort cashing in on another man advantage to keep Kevin Moore’s powerplay unit two for two on the night.
