The Stars are aiming to bounce back from a pair of defeats last weekend as they put in two hard fought and battling performances, despite their lack of numbers due to injury.
Last Saturday in Dundee, the Taysiders were going toe-to-toe with Belfast Giants before a late goal in the second period gave the visitors the chance they needed to reclaim the lead and pull away for a 5-2 victory and on Sunday, the Stars came from behind to take the lead down in Nottingham but would lose their lead in the third period for a 3-2 loss to the Panthers.
Marc LeFebvre’s side are looking for their first win of the season in the Braehead Arena tonight and so far they have beaten the Clan just once this season, losing their last three encounters against Corey Neilson’s men.
Their most recent visit to Glasgow saw the home team claim a 2-1 win after Brett Gravelle gave the Stars an early 1-0 lead but Tyson McLellan and Cole Ully’s third period strikes condemned Dundee to a defeat in the Challenge Cup.
Last weekend, Glasgow were 5-2 winners on home ice twice as they overcame Belfast on Friday before beating Fife Flyers last Saturday and they were also in action last night against Manchester Storm for game three of their four game home stand, which ends against Dundee tonight.
Looking ahead to this weekend’s games, Stars Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre said: “We will get ready like we always do and we have to be prepared to go in and battle with a big rival.
“They are a very good team and are trying to chase us down in the standings but obviously we are hoping to have some bodies back this weekend and hopefully have as close to a full line-up as possible.
“We face two tough challenges this weekend, starting off in Glasgow and going into a tough building but then we come back home to play the defending champions and we want to try and build off our last win over Sheffield.
“I have liked our work ethic in recent weeks, we have been down bodies but always in the battle and now we just have to turn that into some points and that just means taking all the positives from the past few weeks and putting that into two performances this weekend.”
Face-off time for tonight’s road game in Glasgow is at 7pm.
