The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars have announced the team’s captaincy group for the 2024-2025 Elite League season.

The Stars will be led for a fourth consecutive season by Drydn Dow and the defenseman remains in his role as the club’s leader on and off the ice.

Deputising for Dow will be forwards, Brendan Harms and Domenic Alberga as alternate captains, with Harms continuing in the role for a second year and Alberga will be wearing a letter on his jersey for the first time in his career.

Explaining his why he picked this group to lead his team on the ice, Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre said: “Dowsy was a no brainer as always, he was a great leader last year for us and we have a great relationship.

“He is also great in the room and it is the same with Harmsy, they are both great guys and they both come to work every night and at practices, they lead by example and they are good voices in the locker room, especially after games.

“I do not really go into the room after games and I try to let the guys breathe a little bit but the captains are able to handle the room because they are experienced guys.

“Then adding another guy like Dom into that mix, he has great experience across several leagues and as an older guy, he also leads by example every day and you can see his work ethic out on the ice.

“He has really blended in well to what we are trying to build here and also off the ice as well.

“So, it was a no brainer for me but there were a lot of guys who could have worn A’s this year but we have gone with this group and that does not mean we do not have other leaders, we have a lot of experienced guys in our group who can lead by example and just because you do not have a letter on your jersey does not mean you are not a leader.

“We have a pretty experienced team again this year and everybody will contribute in one way or another.”

The Stars play their first competitive game of the new season tonight as they take on Belfast Giants on home ice in the Challenge Cup before hosting Glasgow Clan tomorrow in more Cup Group A action.
