The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars picked up their second win of the preseason with a 6-4 victory over Fife Flyers on the road in what was a back and forth battle all evening.

On Sunday night in Kirkcaldy, Keanu Yamamoto gave the Stars a lead with his strike on 12 minutes but Dundee would soon lose Gary Kelly for the rest of the match as he left the game following an awkward hit into the boards from Fife’s Phelix Martineau.

The Flyers would equalise through Maxim Musorov with five seconds left in the opening period and then took the lead in the second period through Austin Farley’s batted-in goal on 25 minutes.

Fife netminder, Brython Preece was again subbed in for Shane Owen at the halfway-mark but the keeper’s first test would be a penalty shot after Zach Tsekos was brought down as he went through on goal and the Canadian would convert by slipping the puck between Preece’s legs.

Gravelle then restored the Stars lead with a rising shot into the roof of the Fife net inside 33 minutes and Marc LeFebvre’s side took a one-goal lead into the third period.

Jake Elmer then extended the lead to 4-2 just 44 seconds after the restart but the Flyers would strike back twice in six minutes to tie the game up with Patrick Kyte and Martineau finding a way past Dundee goalie, Jarrett Fiske.
