The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars are delighted to announce that defenseman, Kris Inglis has signed a one-year contract extension for the 2024-2025 Elite League campaign.

The 25-year-old has signed up for an eighth consecutive season with the club and will continue to be a strong presence on the back-end, whilst constantly bringing his hard-working and dedicated attitude every day.

Last season saw Inglis ice in 42 matches, contributing four points and the Dundonian blueliner has now racked up 330 Elite League appearances, with 34 points (2G, 32A) and 193 penalty minutes, across his previous seven seasons.

Kris first joined the Stars in 2016, while he continued playing with Scottish National League side, Dundee Comets on a two-way contract and also whilst icing with the Dundee Stars Under 20’s.

Inglis first came into the Stars setup during Marc LeFebvre’s first spell in charge and he would go on to feature 37 times under the Canadian in the 2016-2017 campaign.

LEFEBVRE ON INGLIS

Once he had secured the return of Inglis, Stars Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre, said: “Kris is a good player and it is important to me to have homegrown players from Dundee because they understand what it means to the club, the city and the fans.

“He is a great third pairing guy for us, who is key to our team and his success is not measured by points or anything, it is just how he plays physically on the back end and I think him and Xavier play well together.

“He knows his role, he is not here to try and do too much, he just simplifies his game and when he keeps making the simple plays, we have success.

“He is not only a popular player with our fans but in our group as well, so it was a no brainer for me to bring him back.”

KRIS ON EXTENDING HIS TIME IN HIS HOMETOWN

After agreeing his new deal, Kris said: “Like every year, I am buzzing to be coming back.

“By the time I got my deal done and seeing the signings Marc already had in place and from what he is telling me his trying to build, it was a no brainer for me to stay here and keep playing for my hometown club.

“Every year and every time I step out on the ice it makes me proud and it is going to be an exciting season for us, so I am delighted to be back.”

He continued: “We have had a good couple of years and in Dundee the goal has always been to make the top eight but after speaking to Marc and seeing what the owners are doing, obviously our ambitions have to be higher now.

“So, making playoffs will be the bare minimum now and with the way the club is progressing, we want to be pushing into the top half of the table and staying there.

“As I said, we have had a good couple of years but that is just the start and I do think big things are coming and this club is only going to keep getting bigger and better.”

Sharing a message for the fans after committing to another year with the Stars, Kris said: “I want to thank them firstly for all the support they have given me during my time here and I cannot wait to see them in September.

“They are a huge reason why it is so easy for me to put pen to paper to come back here each year and like I said earlier, it makes me very proud to play in for my hometown team and to play in front of a lot of fellow Dundonians who are just as proud of the club as I am.

“So it was an easy decision and I am really looking forward to see them all cheering us on, come the start of the season.”
