The Stars won their final Challenge Cup group stage game against the Braehead club at home last Sunday and made it a four-point weekend after they also defeated their Tayside rivals, Fife Flyers 6-4 on Friday night.
Finding the net against Glasgow was Spencer Naas, Jake Elmer, James Phelan (2), Chris McKay and Brent Beaudoin, with Elmer, McKay and Beaudoin all scoring for the first time in a Stars shirt.
Looking back on the night and his first goal of the season, Elmer said: “It felt really good, it feels like it has been a long time coming.
“I had not been able to put one in the back of the net yet but it feels good to get the monkey off the back today and I have had a lot of good opportunities this year, so it just felt really good to get that goal today.”
The former New York Rangers signing also shared how the team are feeling after stringing together a number of wins, he added: “We have a lot of good attitudes in the room right now, the energy is high in practice and for the games when we come to the rink every day.
“We are just clicking and gelling right now and it is only going to move upwards from here.”
Canadian defenseman, McKay then added the Stars fourth goal of the night, as they went from 1-1 to 4-1 in front in just 67 seconds, opening his account for the year.
McKay said: “I feel good, in my opinion it was long overdue but the guys are doing the right things now and we are starting to buzz as a team and that is good to see the goals coming.
“It is a lot happier in the room that is for sure and doing the little things right will mean the goals and wins start to come and we will just continue to trend in the right direction.
“We can compete with any team in this league and it is good to see what we are doing is finally starting to payoff.”
Finally, newly added forward, Brent Beaudoin got off the mark in the third period as he fired home his first on 41 minutes to make it a 5-1 score.
Looking back on his goal, Brent said: “It was great, it is always nice to get the first one out of the way fairly early.
“So, it was a great job by my linemates on the forecheck and then it was a broken play out front, I just grabbed it and shot it home.”
He continued: “The confidence is flowing through the guys and when you are winning everyone is feeling good, so we have to try and keep that going, not get ahead of ourselves, play the same way and play simple hockey.”
The Stars will face the Flames at home on Saturday night (7pm) before heading down to Guildford on Sunday (6pm), as they battle it out for potentially four league points. Get your tickets for Saturday’s home match HERE!
