Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre brought in the veteran netminder this summer because of his ability to be the backbone of the Stars team, but also for his experience in the Elite League after spending two seasons with Nottingham Panthers.
Discussing his first week in Dundee, Carr said: “It has been great, we have had a good first week in camp and we have a great group of guys, so I think we are going to gel quite quickly.
“That is always important, especially as guys come from all different places and if we can gel quite quickly then I think that is going to help our production on the ice.”
After splitting their first preseason series with Fife Flyers with a win and a loss, the Canadian shot-stopper shared his thoughts on last weekend, Kevin commented: “The first game we won in overtime which is great because we were able to find a way.
“Then we went over the video of Sunday’s game this week and we saw that we did a lot of good things and there are a lot of positives that we can take out of it.
“It is still really early and we have only known each other for one week, so there is a lot of things we can build on.”
The 33-year-old goalie then spoke about this weekend’s upcoming exhibition games against European opposition and what he hopes to see.
He said: “This weekend is going to be about us and worrying about what we have to do, and not worrying about anything else other than what we can bring to the table.
“If we focus on the commitment to playing good strong defence and offence, but also staying out the box because the first few games we were getting a bit excited.
“It is a long summer and you are pumped to come back and play again but sometimes we can lose our heads a little bit so we have to be way more disciplined this weekend.”
Finally, Kevin has also been partnered up with 21-year-old Lucas Brine as his understudy but Carr feels like he can learn just as much as he has to offer.
He said: “Working with Lucas is going to be awesome, he is a great kid and he is hilarious, he is really funny and fun to be around.
“If he can lean on a bit of my experience and I can lean on a bit of his youth, and we can bring that energy everyday then we are both going to benefit from it.
“I am going to try to learn as much from him as he can from me, so we will keep battling in practice and working hard together, that is all you can do.”
This Saturday sees the Stars the host Romanian side MSC Corona Brasov at 7pm and then on Sunday they will face Tilburg Trappers from the Netherlands at the Dundee Ice Arena, face-off 5pm. Get your tickets HERE!
