The 25-year-old defender was brought in by Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre to add a tough presence on the back end and he described Allen as “big, physical and mean”.
However, Sean also offers more to the team with his continually improving offensive skills, which last year helped him to put up 15 points in 69 league matches and also record a plus/minus rating of +28, despite spending 219 minutes in the penalty box.
Discussing his role on team, Sean said: “I am just out there to focus on my game, build my offensive game and to help the guys as best as I can.
“So, I am just going to focus on that and if I have to fight and set the tone, then I will.”
With four days of the team’s training camp completed, Allen also shared how he has enjoyed his first few days as a Star.
He commented: “It has been good, Marc has just been going over systems with us for the past few days here and the boys are getting adjusted to it, and we will be ready to go this weekend.”
The Ontario-native also mentioned how the players have been bonding well on and off the ice as LeFebvre’s new group begin to gel, Sean added: “Just away from the rink, we are already doing things together.
“Guys are going golfing, to the beach and spending the days together, so it is just nice to get away from the rink and learn about each other on a different level, away from the rink.”
With two clashes with their Tayside rivals, Fife Flyers this weekend, Dundee’s big blueliner is hopeful this could be the start of something special.
Allen said: “As a team, we have been going over and working on our systems, so we just have to focus on that and adjust things as time goes on, but we will take these four preseason matches, game-by-game and go from there but we have a great group of guys in there and im excited for the season and to see what we can achieve.”
