Stars moved up to seventh place this week after a massive win over Manchester Storm on Sunday evening. The vital victory in the play-off race came after a visit to league leaders Cardiff Devils on Saturday night. Stars were without Craig Cescon who is still out with injury.

Dundee travelled to league leaders Cardiff Devils who are aiming for their first league title in 20 years.

After a goalless first period, Mark Richardson opened the scoring for the home side 48 seconds in to the middle frame only for Cale Tanaka to level things less than three minutes later with a short handed goal, assisted by Craig Moore and Félix-Antoine Poulin.

Joey Haddad restored the Devils lead mid way through the period, with the Canadian forward scoring his second of the night just over five minutes in to the final frame.

British defence man Josh Batch then put the game beyond doubt 90 seconds later, beating Stars goalie Joe Fallon to secure the points for Cardiff.

FINAL: Cardiff Devils 4-1 Dundee Stars

Stars travelled home on Sunday evening for a huge game against conference rivals Manchester Storm.

It was the Storm that took the lead after seven minutes as Paul Phillips found the net to give the away side the perfect start.

Mark Heatley then struck with a powerful effort to double the visitors’ lead and make life a little difficult for the Stars.

Cale Tanaka pulled Dundee back into it with a goal five minutes from the end of the opening period as they Stars found a way back into the game.

The Canadian then added his and Stars’ second late on in the middle period to set up a close and nervy third session with plenty at stake.

Tanaka turned provider as Dundee moved into the lead, setting up Kevin Bruijsten who fired Marc LeFebvre’s side in front.

Justin Faryna added Stars’ fourth to clinch a key victory for the home side with two regular season weekends left.

RESULT: Dundee Stars 4-2 Manchester Storm
