Stars arrived in Guildford hoping that this time they would be able to play all three periods without any issue, after the last match against the Flames was abandoned.

Justin Fox and Adam Harding returned to line-up but Jordan Cownie remained on the side-lines for Dundee. Mikael Lidhammar was still missing from the Flames team sheet along with Brian Stewart, Rasmus Edström and the suspended Tomas Nechala.

A brace from Ben Davies put the home side two goals up after just 7:25. Co-incidental minors were called against Guildford’s Geoff Walker for roughing and Stars head coach, Omar Pacha for clipping at 11:08.

Calle Ackered fired past Travis Fullerton to make it 3-0 to the home side at 13:07. Paul Dixon’s men held off the Dundee attacks to maintain their three-goal lead going into the first intermission.

Malcolm Gould scored his 7th goal of the season at 28:33 to end Chris Carrozzi’s hopes of back-to-back shutouts against Stars. However Dundee suffered a set-back when Emerson Hrynyk was ejected for abusing an official, he received a 2+10 for checking to the head before receiving a game misconduct for abuse of an official at 29:41.

Ian Watters used the resulting powerplay to restore Guildford’s three-goal lead at 11:36. 19 games after his last goal, Jimmy Jensen pulled another back for Dundee as he made it 4-2 heading into the second break.

Riley Stadel was penalised for boarding at 42:43 to give the hosts an early third period powerplay and Kruise Reddick made the Stars pay as his effort found the back of the net at 44:25.

Gabriel Lévesque bagged a powerplay goal for Dundee at 51:30 to pull it back to 5-3 after Ben Campbell sat for two minutes on a hooking infraction. Guildford once again restored their three-goal lead, this time through Rhett Rachinski as he was next to beat Fullerton at 52:54

A late powerplay went the way of Dundee as Jez Lundin was penalised by Referee Stefan Hogarth for boarding. Omar Pacha went all for nothing and pulled Fullerton as Stars tried to rescue at least a point, however it was once again the Flames who found the net as Brett Ferguson put the puck in the empty net at 57:27 for a shorthanded goal.

Charles Wells and Dundee’s Malcolm Gould were chosen as the ‘Man of the Match’ recipients. Jesse Craig, Calle Ackered, Rhett Rachinski and Ben Davies all collected three points in last night’s match.

Dundee now travel west to into Wales as they prepare to take on Cardiff Devils, who will not take Stars so lightly after losing 3-1 in the DIA last month.
