Stars hosted their annual award ceremony, celebrating the past season and the hard work of everyone involved with the club.

The night kicked-off with a speech from the general manager, Omar Pacha where he praised the team’s work ethic throughout the season, talked about his vision for the future and how he aims to grow the organisation.

The first two awards were special recognition awards, as the club wanted to show their gratitude for everything the person does to help the team. First of all was the Tom Wilson memorial award and Derek Black was this year’s recipient. The Stars photographer has won many awards for his action-packed pictures and he said that he was “honoured to win the award”.

Stars TV also presented a special award to Struan Davie, who has been working with media team doing interviews and camerawork all season. Stars TV then announced their player of the year winner and they selected Brian Hart.

Next up was the programme writers’ player of the year and that went to Gabriel Lévesque, as he picked up his only trophy of the night despite being nominated another four times. “I am very happy, it is always fun to win awards, but this is a team sport and to be a team that’s working towards a goal is the best thing in the world” said Lévesque after receiving his award.

Jordan Cownie was chosen as the winner of the British player of the year award and the Dundee-born forward was nominated for two more honours. Cownie said: “It is always nice to win an award, but anyone could have won that award this year. Every guy that got the awards, I think deserved them.” Following that was the players’ player of the year award which captain, Chris Lawrence presented to Brian Hart.

The official supporters club gave Hart his hat-trick as he was announced as their player of the year, the American was nominated for every award he was eligible to win. After collecting his third trophy, he said: “It was a huge honour to be given these awards, I really enjoyed playing and living here but I think a lot of guys like Fullerton, Lévesque or Mimar deserved it more than me. I really appreciate the award and just want to thank everyone for that.”

Finally, Omar Pacha presented the award for coaches’ player of the year and he selected Marc-Olivier Mimar as the winner. After the presentation, Mimar said: “A lot of guys deserved it, when I got up on the stage I just wanted to thank the organisation and all the fans. They stuck with us between the ups and downs and I am happy that the coach was happy with my performance this year.”
