It was one of the earlier match-ups between the two sides last season and Stars got off to a flyer. A powerplay goal from Malcom Gould put the home side ahead, he drifted in at the back door and gave Andy Iles no chance to stop his shot. Chris Lawrence redirected a shot from Stadel from right on the doorstep, doubling the Stars lead. Another powerplay goal for Dundee came straight from the restart and this time it was Jimmy Jensen finding the twine. The Swede was at it again, his fellow countryman, Johan Andersson sent a slap pass to Jensen and he tipped it high into the net for a 4-0 lead in the first half of first period.

Fife bounced back with a goal of their own through Liam Heelis, he had been left open at the back door and finished the opportunity with ease. Riley Stadel was next on the score sheet after Stars had kept creating turnovers and it inevitably ended with Stadel firing a rocket into the net. Peter LeBlanc pulled one back in the second period with a good shot that Travis Fullerton could not stop. Jensen then bagged his hat-trick after the Flyers were falling over each other.

Andersson made it 7-2 after he fired a slapshot that took a lucky deflection to get past Iles. LeBlanc slipped one through the five-hole of Fullerton for his second of the night after a poor line change by Dundee. A powerplay goal for Carlo Finucci started the hopes of comeback for Fife and they even found a fifth through Ricards Birzins after it was misjudged by Fullerton. Thankfully, Dundee held on for the 7-5 win.

An excellent defensive display by both teams and with both goalies in top form, it was well into the third period before the puck entered the goal. Tommaso Traversa and Brendan Brooks took an early disliking to each other after the plucky little Italian kept annoying the visitors all night. Vinny Scarsella scored the first goal in the 55th minute, he beat Shane Owen with a shot of pin-point accuracy that found the top corner. An empty net goal ruined the desperate Flyers chance of getting a point after Justin Faryna had fired the puck down the length of the ice and into the net.

In the first season of the Marc LeFebvre era, Dundee cruised to another victory over their bitter rivals in the first half of the 2015-16 season. Kevin Hart scored late in the first period to put Stars ahead after beating David Brown. Stars captain Riley Wetmore manged to deflect a shot into the Fife goal to double the lead, early in the second stanza. Justin Fox’s shot came off of Vlastimil Lakosil and into the Stars net to make it 2-1.

Lou Dickenson skated down the ice with pace and used his skilful hands to get the puck past Brown on a breakaway, restoring Stars two goal lead. Brett Switzer was set up by Mikael Lidhammar for an easy finish, pushing Dundee three goals into the lead. Ryan Dingle pulled one back for Flyers with a hard shot that beat the Stars netminder, before Jason Gray fired a slapshot from the blue line that Brown could not keep out. Fox got his second to make it 5-3 before Dickenson found the empty net to secure 2 points and a 6-3 win.

It was another tightly contested affair at the DIA and on this occasion it was Fife who opened the scoring through Bobby Chaumont after Marc Cheverie was dragged wide of his goal in the 17th minute. Shane Lust drew Stars level in the 26th minute with a low shot that went through the five-hole of Kevin Regan.

Matt Nickerson was causing trouble but he couldn’t find a partner to drop the gloves with. He later threw a punch at Igor Gongalsky but both were tied up before the Stars player could respond. It was a close game that went from end-to-end with both goalies having a solid game. Gongalsky finally found a winner for Dundee in the 64th minute after beating Regan with a low shot.

The first ever Dundee Stars Gardiner Conference winning team took an early lead after a quick snipe beat Kevin Regan. Later in the first stanza, a mistake by Regan behind the Fife goal allowed Stars to steal possession and a pass to Bari McKenzie left him with an empty net to shoot into. The Flyers cut the lead in half when Bobby Chaumont followed up on his own rebound to beat the already sprawled out Dan Bakala.

As usual it was a tense affair but John Dolan grabbed the third goal for Dundee. A pass from behind the goal found the Dundonian who one-timed it past Regan. Tim Hartung provided the second goal for Fife but with just thirty-three seconds to go Nico Sachetti found the empty net.

There was early controversy in the first derby of 2013 as an AJ Maclean tipped a shot into the Flyers net but it was cut off swiftly by the referee. Dundee got the opening goal moments later through Billy Bagron who was waiting on the doorstep to shoot a rebound into Bryan Pitton’s empty net.  Straight after the restart Fife equalised trough Steve McAlpine who beat Nic Riopel with a quick shot. Tim Kraus helped put Stars back in front after stealing the puck and feeding it to Maclean.

Matt Baxter increased the lead to 3-1 as he used a controlled finish to get the puck around Pitton in the opening minute of the second period. Doug Krantz received a pass to the middle of the slot before hitting the twine. Flyers’ Kris Hogg made it 4-2 in the 25th minute before a well worked play by Sami Ryhanen, Mike Wirll and Bagron restored the three-goal lead.  After dragging Pitton from side to side, Bagron finished the chance well. Hogg bagged a second to make it 5-3 in the third period with just over eight minutes to play, a bad defensive giveaway left Riopel defenceless.

The Kirkcaldy side pulled back a fourth goal to make it 5-4, after a rebound fell to Jamie Wilson and all he had to do was tap it in. Late in the third period, a slap shot from Zac Carriveau snuck through the legs of Riopel and trickled across the line. Despite a disappointing third stanza for Stars they were dominant in overtime and with fourteen seconds left to play in the extra period, Wirll was picked out at the back post and smashed it past Pitton for the game-winning, powerplay goal.

Dundee opened the scoring in this Challenge Cup match after just 37 seconds through AJ Maclean. He finished his chance at the back post.  The lead was doubled by Stars legend John Dolan, who beat Blair Daily at his near post. Defenceman, Chris Zarb bagged a powerplay goal to make it 3-0 after a nice deke and finish. As the game approached the halfway mark, Brennan Turner scored the fourth Stars goal after firing home a loose rebound.

Ross McIntosh picked out the corner of the net with a quick shot, making it 5-0 after the halfway mark. The Flyers finally pulled one back through Mike Hamilton in 48th minute after Chris Whitley was unable to keep out a quick shot from the slot. Goal number six came from Maclean after he deked and dived over Daily in the Fife goal.  The seventh and final goal came from Jeff Hutchins as he finished from on the doorstep in the 53rd minute.
