Ice hockey returns in earnest to the Dundee Ice Arena this Saturday Evening (face-off 7.00) as the new Dundee Stars, under the guidance of recently appointed GM and Head Coach Omar Pacha, lock horns against the visiting Belfast Giants.

This Challenge Cup Group clash will see the new look Stars take to the ice for their first game of the season and all Stars fans will be excited by their first opportunity to view the team that Coach Pacha has brought together for the new campaign.

The new season has seen the introduction of 13 new import players with only defenseman Joey de Concilys returning from last season’s team which reached the last four of the Elite League Play-offs for the very first time in the club’s history.

At an event to introduce the new players to some 200 supporters on Monday past, Coach Pacha explained how he had brought together a group of hungry individuals, many having signed their first professional contracts, who would work hard every night for the greater good of their team.

One player expected to make his debut for the team this weekend is Dundee born forward Jordan Cownie who has stepped up from the English Premier League and who is expected to make a big impression with his home town team this season.

The Belfast Giants have also appointed a new Head Coach for this season in the form of previous Club Captain Adam Keefe who is expected to impart some of his gritty hockey style upon his new charges. Belfast are again expected to be one of the sides chasing the Elite League title come the Spring and will present a very strong opening night challenge to our new team on Saturday evening.

Tickets are on sale now for what promises to be a very lively face off to the 2017/18 season.

On Sunday Night Stars travel to Edinburgh for a challenge game against a much-changed Edinburgh Capitals side. This fixture is reversed next Wednesday evening when the two sides meet at the Dundee Ice Arena.

Enjoy the new Elite League Hockey Season with the Dundee Stars!
