Hi Stars fans,

I hope everyone is doing well and already looking forward to this Saturday’s big home game coming up against the Edinburgh Capitals (7pm).

I am glad we now have our two first league points in the bank and I’m now focussed and excited about our first Gardiner Conference game against the Caps.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to keep you guys up to speed with everything going on behind the scenes at the Dundee Stars!

As we all know, we faced a serious injury to one of our majorly key players in Chris Lawrence a few weeks back. Thankfully, he had a successful operation last Thursday and he is now taking the necessary time to heal and rest before getting himself ready for the Christmas period.

Anthony Mastrodicasa is recovering well from his upper body injury. He has been working extremely hard to get back on the ice. For the short time he was on the ice for us early season, Mastro was a key player for this team and a great leader in the locker room, so I’m really looking forward to getting him back into the Stars lineup.

We are hoping to get new signing Brian Hart here as soon as possible. He will be a massive addition to our team & I just know that the fans are going to love him. We are hoping there will be no delays with his visa process.

This past week we have had mixed results. First off, on Wednesday we faced the defending champions, the Cardiff Devils. I believe yet again, they will be a force in the league this season. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a way past Bowns, who shutout Braehead on Saturday as well. The team competed and showed a lot of passion but it just wasn’t meant to be on the night, but I know we learned as a team from this game which will only benefit us down the road.

This past Saturday, we played Fife. This was a bizarre game as it seemed like every bounce went Fife’s way. They will be another top side this season, they’re well coached and recruit well. We are 1-1 against them in the Challenge Cup phase. It will be 8 tough fixtures coming up this year in the conference against them, but I for one love challenges as I know my team do too.

On Sunday just gone, we got a massive two league points against a really good and well balanced hockey team. The Lightning are a new team in the league but Pete Russell did a great job recruiting early on in April. They got some big wins early on, so it was a good feeling to get the victory and to see different guys step up, especially Travis Fullerton who was superb between the pipes.

Off the ice we have made huge strides forward already this season. You may have already seen many new sponsors jump on board which is so important to our club.

On the media side of things, I can’t speak highly enough of Stars TV. They have been helping us with everything since the start of the season. They did all the promo videos and also our intro video that seemed to go down very well. We are very fortunate to have a group working so hard behind the scenes and so dedicated to the club.

Additionally, you have possibly noticed the exposure we have been receiving from many different media avenues. The likes of STV, the Telegraph, the Courier, Radio Tay, Wave 102 and BBC Scotland have all given great exposure to our club. After meeting with all these media outlets, I can tell you that they truly believe in the Stars brand and want to give as much exposure to the team for our fans everywhere in the area. Please support all these outlets moving forwards.

On a personal level, I have to say that since I have been here I cannot speak highly enough of the club and how impressed I am by everything. The city is great, the fans are very passionate, the rink is one of the best in the league and we have a club that really cares about growing in the Dundee area.

Finally, I hope to see everyone on Saturday (7pm) at the Dundee Ice arena when we host the Edinburgh Capitals. Remember it is £1 ticket for every kid (U-16). So bring your friends, work colleagues and family this Saturday and let’s get the place rocking for our first conference game.

Thanks,

Pach
