Hi Stars fans,

I hope everyone is well.

After this weekend just gone, I want to take time to thank the Freiburg organization and fans for coming to Dundee, but most importantly, a massive “thank-you” to our own Dundee Stars fans for making both days very successful one on and off the ice. It was a great experience to be able to play against a very competitive team from a strong and respected league. The Freiburg people were extremely impressed with the whole experience here in Dundee with a lot of very positive feedback made regarding Dundee as a city, the friendliness of the people, the rink and also the level of competition they faced over the course of the two games. The atmosphere was great and all the players are already buzzing for this upcoming home “opener” weekend when competitive action hits the Dundee Ice Arena.

As you all know, we have many new faces to this season’s Stars lineup that have made a direct impact since their arrival to Dundee. In the offseason, we were able to add size, skill, speed and experience to our lineup. The guys are quickly gelling together after a long first week of training camp and it was great to see many positive glimpses of the upgrades made to our lineup. Across the two games we were able to create offence, whilst making sure to be agile with the puck from the back-end. By Sunday, the guys showed some fatigue (which was normal) but competed and worked hard until the final buzzer. Considering it was only the first week together, we saw many positives as we get going in week 2.

Off the ice, we were fortunate enough to add new sponsors and major upgrades to the rink in general. First off, we are extremely proud to not only have our Stars team logo on the ice but most importantly the name “Dundee” as the main focal point in the middle of the ice.  We were also able to add a brand new digital screen at the far end of the rink that will be used in many different ways before the game and during intermission break that will lead to even further fan interaction and overall experience throughout the entire night at a Stars game. As I mentioned numerous times, we want to be the most enjoyable event in Dundee on a weekly basis and to ultimately drive new fans into the arena game after game. At all times as a club, we are trying to find new innovative ways to increase the whole fan experience and whilst we have implemented some of our own ideas, we’re always keen to hear from you, our fans, as to what you think would add further to our match-night experience.  So don’t be shy in getting in touch with us via email or finding the likes of Elliot on game-day and passing on any feedback/ideas! Keep a look out this week on social media and our club website as we build up to opening night this coming Saturday!

Now our focus turns back to on-ice practice & off-ice sessions in the gym as we prep for this weekends games. Let’s make sure we keep the buzz going and fill up the DIA Saturday (7pm) when we play the Belfast Giants who are one of the top teams within the Elite League.

See you all then!
