Hi Stars fans,

I hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the beautiful Scottish winter, it’s most certainly ice hockey season!

It has been a while since my last message to you all, so here we go.

On New Years Day, we added two key components to the lineup in Cody Carlson and Lukas Lundvald. The both of them have been great since their arrival and have been pivotal to our recent success on the ice.

In 2018, we are currently 6-1. At the end of December, when we were really down, we asked our fans to get behind us and to keep the faith. What did our fans do on January 2nd against Braehead Clan? We were down 2-0 in the 3rd and hadn’t scored in 8 periods of hockey, but, YOU stuck by us. We then came back in the game and since then we have been playing our best hockey of the season without doubt.

This past weekend was a really successful one. Against Fife, who have been a really strong side throughout the campaign thus far, we found a way to comeback from a 5-2 deficit in the third to get a dramatic two points. Fife are an extremely good side, especially at home. To get the win against our top rival and also doing it on the road with a good support from our fans was truly amazing.

On Sunday, we showed a strong and relentless work ethic as a group. As I said on day one, we will be the hardest working team in the league. Even tired, short bodies and hurt, the guys battled all night and it was our best “team” victory of the season.

This team is the prototypical underdog team. Nobody predicted us to be in the playoff run at the start of the year and even less with all the injuries and some untimely departures. If you are looking for a feel good story Dundee, well I am confident in saying this is it. You have an underdog team competing in the best Ice Hockey league in all of the UK and working tirelessly for the pride of the organization, the Stars badge, but most importantly, the city itself. These guys care that much.

The Exposure and Growth

The average attendance in the Elite Ice Hockey league will be higher than the average attendance in the Scotland Championship league (2nd division football) and the product is one of the best in the world. So yes this is a major sport and needs to be regarded as a top sport in all of Dundee and also Scotland. As we speak, the Stars should be the talk of the town.

That’s where you guys come in, our loyal fan base, our strongest advocates.

This is my challenge to you and the wider Dundee people. We are already looking forward to Saturday 7pm at the Dundee Ice Arena and we are pushing hard for our #OperationSellout vs the Fife Flyers.

It will be a great night. The biggest game of the season to keep pushing for the conference and also the 8th playoff spot. So all week, make sure you tell your friends, family members, co-workers and anyone that you know to jump on the bandwagon. I guarantee they won’t regret it.

As Riley Stadel would say, GET UP DUNDEE.

See you all on Saturday evening, 7pm, at the DIA!

Cheers,

Pach
